School Placement FAQ

How do I know which school is right for my child?

Our school placement service starts with understanding your child’s abilities, interests and personality, alongside your family’s priorities. William Clarence’s academic assessment is vital to understand how your child compares to their peers in the UK system.  Our independent school consultants will use this information to put together a shortlist of suitable schools and guide you through visits, assessments and applications, helping you make an informed choice.

Do I need to apply at set times during the school year?

You can contact us at any time of year for advice on school applications. Registration deadlines and entry points vary, and some independent schools consider mid-year admissions where places are available. Our school placement team can help you plan ahead or explore immediate options.

We have two children with different abilities and interests. How do we choose the right school?

Our independent school consultants consider each child individually before looking at what works for your family as a whole. That may mean one school with a broad range of opportunities or different schools. An education consultation helps clarify each child’s needs and your school placement priorities.

Will UK schools accept our grades from another country?

Our school placement team helps families relocating to the UK explain their child’s academic background to prospective schools and identify any preparation needed. UK independent schools will consider overseas school reports but the most useful tool for an admissions office is William Clarence’s own academic assessment that looks in detail at a student’s academic level and ability. A school will use their own assessments, interviews and English language requirements having considered our assessment, before offering a place.

Do you work with a set number of schools?

No. We have no fixed list of preferred schools and can work with any school in the UK on your family’s behalf. Our school placement advice is guided solely by what is best for your child and family, with no loyalty to any particular school.

How do you ensure we find the best-fit school for our family?

Our initial consultation helps us understand your child’s needs and your family’s priorities. Our school placement programme then combines academic assessment and an interview with tailored research, considering academic challenge, pastoral care, interests and practical needs before guiding school visits and applications.
