Last minute school placement from Dubai and the United States
We are currently seeing high levels of movement for UK schooling starting this September with families relocating from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as the USA. We are asked on a regular basis if it is ‘too late’ for a quick move over the summer. Having recently placed eighteen children at schools in London, Oxford, Surrey and Cheltenham, we know that it is never ‘too late’!
Unsurprisingly we have spoken to a number of families from the UAE who have wanted to relocate due to the war in Iran. It is obviously a major decision to uproot a family at short notice and move school, but many UK schools have been very understanding and accommodated families. Our US families are either moving for work or increasingly for the quality of a UK independent school education.
As with all our families, the key is to meet and assess the children as quickly as we can so that we can see their current academic levels, as well as potential. We understand that children are often coming from a different curriculum and can explain this to admissions offices. Each child receives a comprehensive report with practical recommendations for support and exam practice where necessary. By moving fast, we can use the assessment feedback to give schools a very accurate picture of each child and target the right schools.
As we see a move outside London, particularly for younger families seeking space and a healthier lifestyle, we will continue to visit schools to get a real feel for each one we recommend.
It is always worth getting in touch with William Clarence Education if you think a last minute move is a possibility.
