Natural sciences university application with a student from Dubai  

A family came to William Clarence in the middle of their son’s grade 10 (year 11 in the UK) in order to begin to plan an application to top Russell Group universities for natural sciences for 2025 entry. Our consultant started mentoring the student from this point, discussing wider reading to complement his studies at school along with suitable extra and super-curricular activities to enhance his application, such as pre-university summer schools and appropriate work experience.

Over a period of at least 12 months, the student built up a superb and in depth bank of reading that not only widened his knowledge base but also generated new avenues of interest in the sciences for us to explore in our meetings. Together they discussed the new format admissions test for applications to particular universities, and separate tutoring was put in place in order to ensure he was properly prepared for this crucial exam, if it was necessary to be taken.

They discussed at length the final five university choices that would be chosen, factoring in location and predicted grades as well as considering at least one suitable insurance choice. The consultant put together an initial long list of at least a dozen universities and together, they talked about similarities and differences in modules alongside likely academic entry requirements to arrive at a final list of five universities.

The student went on to receive a suite of fantastic offers including UCL and Durham and is now considering which to make his firm and insurance choices.
