Natural Sciences at Cambridge University Application

Oxbridge Application & UK University Consultancy

Background

An academically able Italian student approached William Clarence for support in making an application to the University of Oxbridge or the University of Cambridge to study either Natural Sciences or Physics respectively. After completing a full academic overview and considering the student’s ambitions long-term, Rebecca Dowbiggin identified suitable courses and universities within the student’s criteria, leading to a final shortlist ready for UCAS application, inclusive of the University of Cambridge (Natural Sciences). Having detailed the nature of the collegiate system at Cambridge, we were able to offer insight into life at each of the various colleges, suggesting how best to efficiently investigate both colleges and faculties during the university’s hectic open day. Although the student was very academically able, we worked to build confidence; discussions of extended reading and interview preparation proved invaluable and the student further supplemented their school studies with subject-specific preparation for the Cambridge NSAA (Natural Sciences Admissions Assessment).

Academic and general mock interviews were undertaken and full reports detailing progress and improvement were provided at each stage of the process.

“Rebecca Dowbiggin’s advice was critical for helping us to understand the process, as well as to understand what the university is looking for in their candidates… Rebecca demonstrated a sincere desire to help my daughter, providing her with invaluable insights which strengthened her confidence in her ability.”

 Result

The student is excited to be commencing their course at the University of Cambridge in September 2021.
