Why you should still be applying to UK schools and Universities during the Coronavirus pandemic

As the advice surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic changes on a daily basis worldwide and we enter difficult and distressing times, it is worth remembering that applications to the world’s leading schools in the UK are going ahead as normal.

Whilst educational establishments are now being closed; admissions for the next academic years will most definitely continue as normal. Our conversations with admissions offices all tell the same story, they are open for business when it comes to student recruitment.  In fact, now is a fantastic time to be applying to UK Independent schools for 2021 and beyond. If you are moving to London later this year, school admissions offices are still working for new applicants.

If you are concerned about not being able to make visits, we have clients who are taking remote tours this week. The schools have provided links to the school with an online introduction, followed by a series of skype conversations with relevant members of staff and pupils. Although parents are not actually physically visiting they can at least get a good idea of a school and speak to staff and pupils alike. With schools closing, senior staff will still be available. When it comes to entrance tests and interviews, these can all be done online and if your application is for beyond 2020, you still have plenty of time to visit.

In short, schools are adapting fast to showing themselves off as best they can from afar.

Don’t let COVID-19 put you off applying to the UK. At William Clarence we are happy to guide you through the process and it is in times like these that our comprehensive knowledge of schools becomes invaluable.
